Materials
HAURATON gratings for drainage channels are available in various materials. An overview:
HAURATON steel gratings
Steel is a versatile and easy-to-process material that is often used for channel gratings. From simple slotted covers in pedestrian zones to longitudinal grating on façades and sturdy mesh gratings in car parks, there are numerous application areas.
The benefits of steel are:
-
Sustainability – steel is 100% recyclable
-
Robustness – steel is extremely resilient (up to load class E 600) and weather-resistant
-
The light weight of steel makes installation easy and saves on transport costs
-
Flexibility – steel is easy to process and can be shaped into almost any form. This means that a steel grating can be produced exactly to your requirements
Custom-made stainless steel channels are manufactured from rustproof chrome-nickel steel in grades 1.4301 (V2A) and 1.4404 (V4A). This makes them corrosion-resistant.
Hot-dip galvanising is a particularly durable and cost-effective form of corrosion protection and offers benefits that are unique in corrosion protection technology. Hot-dip galvanised surfaces are not only protected against wind and weather, but also optimally protected against mechanical stress – for decades. Strip galvanising describes a special hot-dip galvanising process in which, instead of a single piece, a complete steel strip passes through the galvanising plant.
Corten steel is a steel alloy that is characterised by its high weather resistance. Its surface is covered with a particularly dense layer of iron oxide, which is responsible for its high rust resistance: this barrier layer creates a vibrant patina that ages with the environment.
In addition to the material, you can also choose between different surface finishes: ground, sandblasted, polished, glass bead blasted, stained or coated. This allows the appearance of the drainage system to be individually adapted to the aesthetic requirements of your project.
HAURATON ductile iron gratings
Ductile iron impresses with its extreme stability, high load-bearing capacity and long service life – even under the heaviest loads. The mostly rustic gratings are often used in ports or industrial yards, but can also be seen as elegant longitudinal gratings in public spaces.
The benefits are:
-
Extreme stability (up to load class F 900)
-
Weather resistance
-
Maximum safety
- Ductile iron
Uncoated cast iron with spheroidal graphite, also known as ductile iron (GJS 500-7), is an extremely resilient material with mechanical properties similar to those of steel.
- Ductile iron with KTL coating
The extremely stable and high-quality ductile iron is available as a grating with a KTL-coated surface in black and offers unique benefits in corrosion protection technology.
- Galvanised ductile iron
The ductile iron with KTL coating is also available in a galvanised version. This further enhances corrosion protection and product durability.
HAURATON fibre-reinforced polyamide gratings
Fibre-reinforced polyamide channel gratings are extremely lightweight, which makes them easy to install. They are also resistant to corrosion, weathering and UV radiation. Thanks to innovative material technologies, they offer medium load-bearing capacity and a long service life. Whether in pedestrian zones, sports facilities or car parks, fibre-reinforced polyamide gratings are universally applicable.
The benefits are:
-
Easy installation and handling thanks to extremely light weight
-
Durability due to high resistance to weathering, chemicals, road salt and UV radiation
-
Sustainability – HAURATON’s fibre-reinforced polyamide gratings are 100% recyclable
- Fibre-reinforced polyamide
Fibre-reinforced polyamide with significantly increased mechanical strength.
- Recycled polypropylene
Recycled polypropylene is a 100% recycled – our material RECYFIX.
- Modified polypropylene
Polypropylene optimised in terms of the above characteristics.
