New construction with a vision – Warsaw-Radom Airport

The new Warsaw-Radom Regional Airport was built to accommodate the growing number of passengers in the Warsaw metropolitan area and relieve pressure on the capital’s airport. It is primarily intended for charter and low-cost flights. The airport infrastructure has been completely rebuilt with a focus on efficiency, safety and durability. One of the biggest technical challenges was ensuring reliable drainage of the various outdoor areas. Rainwater must be drained quickly and safely from the runway, access roads, parking areas and aprons to ensure safe operations at all times.

Precise drainage for different requirements

HAURATON supplied two high-performance channel systems for this major infrastructure project: RECYFIX HICAP F was used in areas with high point loads, such as on the runway and in its immediate vicinity. With its compact design and high retention capacity, this system is ideal for airport areas where space is at a premium and operational safety is a top priority.

FASERFIX KS systems were used for access roads, parking areas and other high-traffic areas. The channels, made of high-quality fibre-reinforced concrete, are extremely resilient and chemically resistant – ideal prerequisites for the requirements of high-traffic infrastructure.

Long-term safety thanks to robust systems

The targeted use of both channel systems enabled a comprehensive, high-performance and low-maintenance solution to be implemented. HAURATON impressed in this project not only with its technical expertise, but also with its cooperative partnership with the planning and construction managers on site.

The investor, who had already become familiar with the RECYFIX HICAP solution at Chopin Airport and recognised its advantages, was so impressed by its effective water absorption and significantly improved retention capacity that he wanted to use it at Warsaw-Radom Airport as well.

The high-performance channel systems RECYFIX HICAP F and FASERFIX KS were used for the Warsaw-Radom project. They ensure reliable drainage of precipitation under a wide range of loads – from the runway to the access road.
