Reliable drainage for modern sports surfaces
Climate change and increasingly extreme weather events pose major challenges for sports facility operators. Reliable, resource-efficient drainage is crucial to keeping areas safe for use even during heavy rainfall. The Asnyka Sports Centre in Katowice has been extensively modernised and equipped with a future-proof drainage system. SPORTFIX slotted channels were used, featuring a channel body made from approximately 93% recycled polypropylene (PP) that has been awarded the Blue Angel eco-label, combined with SPORTFIX Sand Traps, Soft Kerbs and an integrated Water Jump.
This solution ensures flush, virtually invisible integration into the running track while also ensuring efficient drainage of rainwater. The material used is UV- and frost-resistant, corrosion-resistant and suitable for long-term outdoor use.

KTL-coated slotted covers ensure a durable bond with the track surface. EPDM slot inserts facilitate the installation and precise opening of the drainage slots after fitting. Composite gratings also serve as track markings and, thanks to their side openings, facilitate rapid water drainage. In addition, sump units allow for easy maintenance and cleaning whilst the facility is in use – a clear advantage in day-to-day sporting activities.
