Flexible and economical approach

An efficient surface drainage was required for the external areas of this extremely busy distribution unit. The applications were varied, with large car parking areas, entrance roads and busy delivery and service areas. A flexible approach was required in considering efficient and cost-effective drainage solutions.

Robust drainage to cope with continual heavy duty traffic

Colin Taff, regional project manager of HAURATON, proposed the RECYFIX HICAP drainage channel system for the large concrete surface service areas. This gave a cost-effective, durable solution for areas that would be subjected to heavy and dynamic vehicles.

KERBFIX kerb drainage solution was chosen for the entrance roads and sections of the car parks.

With a load rating up to F 900, the RECYFIX HICAP system brought the following benefits to the project:

  • Pre-assembled, lightweight and compact channel units for quick and easy installation on site

  • Channel body in modified Polypropylene (PP) composite for high impact/corrosion resistance

  • Heavy-duty slotted tops made from high quality spheroid ductile iron GGG-50 for system strength and durability

  • *GGG-50 has 23 times more tensile strength and 9 times more compressive strength than polymer concrete

  • Gratings mechanically fixed to the throat unit for enhanced security and performance
